Michelle Renee Quick, 53, passed away July 5, 2023 peacefully at Saint Luke's Hospice House surrounded by the love of her family. She is survived by her parents Marcia and Glenn Reeves of Mission, KS and Ray and Teri Quick of Gainesville, GA, her brother Wayne Quick and his wife Stacy Quick and their children Justin, Joseph and Alyssa Quick of Flowery Branch, GA and her brother Eric Reeves and his wife Megan Harris-Reeves of Kansas City, MO. She is also survived by many uncles, aunts and cousins who loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Lee and Mary Quick, Harvey and Bertha Simpson, Wallace T and Lanelle Reeves and her beloved cousin Shawn Simpson.
The oldest of three children, Michelle was born on February 16th in Kansas City, MO. For those who knew her, they know she had a ferocity for life and all life's joys. Her biggest passion was spending time with her family and friends. Michelle was the light of the family and brought a smile and a laugh to every family gathering. It goes without being said but many know that Michael Jackson and Elvis were a big deal in Michelle's world, this includes music, Halloween costumes, trips to Graceland and beyond. Michelle loved all animals, but the family pets had a special place in her heart (Savannah, Roxy, Lola and Poppy). She had many friends through Johnson County Developmental Supports (JCDS) and Special Olympics. With Special Olympics, she participated in different events through the years, but her favorites were basketball, track and field, softball and cheerleading. For many years, you could usually catch her at the bowling alley or playing bocce ball with her friends on the weekends. She worked at Papercrete Works which is a program of JCDS that creates community integrated employment for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Papercrete Works was Michelle's favorite job and she always looked forward to her time there. Her favorite project was the puppy prints, often painting them the colors of her favorite teams (Kansas City Chiefs, K-State and Mizzou).
Michelle's family extends gratitude and thanks to JCDS for their support over the years. Thank you to every single staff member who helped Michelle and continue to support those in our community.
A Celebration of Life is to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to be made in honor of Michelle Quick to Friends of JCDS.
