Michelle Pieklo Sears of
Jacksonville, Florida, age 54, passed away peacefully with loved ones at her side on January 28, 2026, following her year-long battle, with her second bout of cancer.
Michelle was born on June 14th, 1971, in
Chicago, Illinois, the eldest child of Stanley and Brenda Pieklo. When she was a year old, her family moved to
Jacksonville, Florida, where she grew up and attended Bishop Kenny High School and eventually Jacksonville University. Her childhood was comprised of camping trips with her parents and two siblings, Angela and Brian. She played soccer and cheered in high school.
While attending Jacksonville University, she met her husband, Henry Christopher Sears, and they were married on October 25, 1997. Married for 28 years, they loved to travel with family, spend time at the beach, and eat good food. She loved to experience authentic cuisine by visiting "hole-in-the-wall" restaurants locally and wherever she traveled. She desired to go into the U.S. Foreign Service but decided to devote her life to her family.
To her community, she was the most selfless individual. Whether it was at Community Bible Church of Orange Park, where she was a member for over 25 years, or her children's sports teams, she fixed the needs of others above her own.
To her family, she was the master photographer for every family memory and breathed fun, whimsy, and marvelousness into the lives of her loved ones. Her pride and joy were her children, who she devoted her career to homeschooling and educating all the way through high school. She was the champion of shark's teeth collecting and had a guilty pleasure of staying up late and watching true crime shows.
Michelle was preceded in death by her sister, Angela Pieklo. She is survived by her loving husband, Christopher Sears; children Ian Sears (Talbott), Harris Graham Sears, and Sarah Sears; parents Stanley and Brenda Pieklo; brother Brian Pieklo (Holly); and many more family members who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 5th, 2026 at 11:00AM at Community Bible Church of Orange Park, 505 Blanding Blvd,
Orange Park, FL 32073, followed by a reception at the same location.
Michelle was a rock of faith for her whole family and will be remembered for her loving discipleship and faithful servitude to Jesus Christ her Savior. The imprint that her life left on this world is evidence that she exemplified the commandments laid out in Mark 12:28-34. She loved God and sacrificially loved others as herself. Her life followed the example set by Christ to be a light to the world; there is no doubt she was received by Christ with love and the words that heal all pain, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution made to the
American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) in Michelle's name. Michelle's sister, Angela, passed from suicide in 2019. Michelle loved her sister deeply and was passionate about raising awareness and supporting others around this issue
