BENNINGTON-
Michelle L. Sylvester, 59, a lifelong resident of Bennington, VT passed away on February 20th, 2023 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, following a long illness.
She was born in Bennington, VT on October 19th, 1963 to the late Barbara (Stevens) and David Caron.
Michelle attended Bennington schools, graduating from Mount Anthony Union High school in the Class of 1984. She went on to complete two years of culinary school before returning to Bennington.
She married her prior husband, Richard Sylvester, on May 13, 1989. Together they had one son, Jeremiah Sylvester, their miracle baby.
Family was everything to Michelle. She loved spending time with her family. Michelle held a special place in her heart for children and animals. Traveling was one of her favorite hobbies. She enjoyed taking trips to the State Fairs (especially for the fried dough), road-tripping to Springfield and going to the beach.
Michelle was happy-go-lucky and full of life, with the most beautiful smile that made you forget how stubborn she could be. She loved listening to country music and rock'n'roll, with a special fondness for Elvis and Michael Jackson, and watching old TV shows. The Olympics were very important to Michelle, she was always looking forward to the next one. Michelle loved to swim, and was honored to be able to participate in swimming in the Special Olympics.
Michelle is survived by her only son, Jeremiah Sylvester, of Bennington, VT. Her siblings, Selena Caron, of Bennington, VT and David (Angela) Caron, of Pownal, VT. Three nieces, Stephanie Caron, of Weathersfield, CT, Sheena (Todd) Caron-Batease, of Bennington, VT, and Gabriella Caron of Pownal, VT; one nephew, Griffin Caron, of Pownal, VT. Her great nieces and nephews, Lauren Woodcock, of Bennington, VT, Jordan (Pete) Woodcock, of Bennington, VT, Landen Caron, of Bennington, VT and Savannah Lyttle, of Bennington, VT. One great-great nephew, Kia Elliot Jappen, of Bennington, VT. Michelle is also survived by her longtime caregiver and friend, Steve Harrington, of Bennington, VT.
Michelle was predeceased by her former husband, Richard Sylvester, as well as many aunts and uncles. She was also predeceased by her beloved dog, Nina.
Friends are invited to call to the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on March 3rd, 2023 from 4pm-5pm. Following the calling hour, a funeral service for Michelle will be given at the funeral home.
