Miguel Guzman Tapia was born on November 3, 1972, in Guanajuato, Mexico, the son of Higenio Guzman Sanchez and Maria Del Refugio Tapia Contreras.
On September 21, 1996, Miguel was united in marriage to Kathleen Mengwasser at the Church of Latter-Day Saints in Denison.
He worked at Essentia for several years until his illness made it impossible for him to continue.
In his younger years, Miguel loved playing soccer and remained an avid fan throughout his life, especially of his favorite team, Club América. He enjoyed spending time with friends, playing poker, visiting around the table, or making trips to the casino. Miguel deeply valued his family and friends, cherishing phone conversations and visits.
Music was one of his greatest pleasures, and he could often be found singing along to his favorite songs. He also enjoyed scenic drives with his wife and their dog, Aza, especially as the seasons changed. Miguel loved the outdoors and especially looked forward to cookouts with loved ones.
Miguel passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, at the age of 52 years, nine months, and eleven days. He was preceded in death by his father, brother, and nephew.
Miguel is survived by his wife of 28 years, Kathleen Guzman of Denison; daughter, Alexandra; son, Seth (Chelsey); mother; brothers and sisters; nieces and nephews; and other family members and friends.
His celebration of life will be held when his son comes home from deployment.
The nightly ceremony in Washington, D.C. will be dedicated in honor of your loved one on the day of your choosing.
