MONROE, NC - Michael B. Gribble passed away on December 7, 2023, in Monroe, NC, after a brief illness.
He was born on December 12, 1945, in Muncie, IN, to Ray and Eileen (Dailey) Gribble. He graduated from Muncie Central High School, Class of 1964, and volunteered for the draft soon after graduation. He served in the Army, stationed in Frankfort, Germany, until receiving an honorable discharge in 1966. Mike was married for 51 years to the love of his life, Victoria (Vicky) Marlow, on December 12, 1972, in Muncie, IN.
He grew up working at the family business, Gribble's Independent Service Station, on St. Rd. 32, which opened his eyes to entrepreneurship. This can best be reflected in Magoo's Restaurant, M. Gribble & Co., specializing in screen printing and embroidery, and Oscar Ray's Good Eats, named after his father. Mike and Vicky retired to Las Vegas, NV, in 2004 and lived there for 10 years before moving to Florida, and later North Carolina, to be closer to family.
Mike never met a stranger and could talk to anyone about almost anything. He was always inquisitive and interested in knowing about the people he met. He always enjoyed spending time conversing with good friends and acquaintances. He had a strong dedication to his family, and truly adored his granddaughters. They could always count on Papaw to sneak them some chocolates and summon the tickle bug.
Mike is survived by his wife, Vicky, daughters Darby Gribble and Kasie (Bryan) McNamara, granddaughters Madeleine and Raegan McNamara, Brothers-in-law Dennis Marlow (Companion Phyllis Kuhl) and Jeff (Debbie) Marlow, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding him in death are his parents Ray and Eileen Gribble and his brother Ray Neal Gribble.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held this spring. More information will be released at a later date.
The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel is in charge of arrangements and online condolences may be sent to the family at www.meeksmortuary.com.
