Mike Leon Hare, 55, Independence, Kansas passed away at home on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, October 10th, 2024. The family will greet visitors from 10 am to 12 pm at Webb and Rodrick Chapel located at 306 W. Main Street, Independence, KS. From this location we will proceed to Oak Hill Cemetery, Elk City, KS around 12:15 pm where Mike will be laid to rest between Raymond Kenzel and Carolyn Hare.
Mike was born November 5, 1968 in Independence, Kansas to Raymond Kenzel and Carolyn (Quigley) Hare. Mike attended Independence High School and graduated in 1987. Following his education Mike was employed by Emerson Electric, Frank Stark and Catalytic Industries. Mike attended Friends Church and loved to visit, fellowship and help people. Mike’s hobbies included gardening, drawing, and spending time with family and friends. One of Mike’s greatest pleasures was helping Lyle Springer on the farm taking care of cattle. Animals were near and dear to his heart.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Kenzel Hare, Carolyn Hare, Uncle David Quigley, and two nephews, Malachi Hare and Scott Aemisegger. His companion for 21 years was his dog, Shadow, who was always by his side. Those left to cherish his memory include one brother, Gary Hare and life partner Wynona Blex, Independence, KS; two sisters, Ruby Aemisegger and life partner Gregg Ellison, Independence, KS; Paula (Chip) Schuler, Garden City, KS; one Uncle, several Aunts and many cousins; five nieces and nephews, Andrew (Kaylee) Hare, Wichita, KS; Christina Evans, Independence, KS; Adam Aemisegger, Independence, KS; Shilo ( Jonathan) Carnahan, San Tan Valley, AZ; Cody Goza, Olathe, KS; one great-niece and nephew, Karson Evans, and Ember Hare.
