Mila Marche was the only child of Milo and LaVerta (Olson) Hunger. She was born in
Tacoma, WA on June 27 th , 1943. She spent her early childhood in Dash Point, WA
before moving to Elma, WA, where she graduated from high school in 1961. After high school,
she attended Grays Harbor College in Aberdeen, WA, where she studied business.
She resided most of her life in various cities in Grays Harbor County, WA. She worked
in the banking industry then later for the City of Ocean Shores, were she retired as the
Utility Billing Supervisor. After retirement in 2013, she lived in Tieton, WA before moving to
Seaside, OR, where she passed away on April 29 th , 2023.
Mila was a self-described “party girl,” who enjoyed playing card games, especially
pinochle. She created art and made crafts of all kinds; she especially loved painting.
She liked traveling, going to the casino, watching movies, and eating out at restaurants.
Mila was an avid animal lover who had cats and dogs throughout her life. Her
Dalmatian-lab mix Jack was among her most beloved companions.
Mila is survived by her daughter Mistee (Svinth) Messing of Astoria, OR and her son
Lonnie Gibson of Arlington, WA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Amber Allen
of Tacoma, WA, Carissa Huntwork of Manhattan, KS, Jasmine Estes of Cowiche, WA,
Jenna Taylor of Yakima, WA, Jayce Alexander of Yakima, WA, Andi Beeston of Lake
Stevens, WA, Samantha Messing of North Bend, OR, and Daniel Messing Jr. of Astoria,
OR, plus numerous great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life was held on May 6, 2023, at Neawanna by the Sea, in Seaside.
She was remembered by her friends at Neawanna for driving her electric scooter
around town with her dog Molly, doting on her giant goldfish Finderella, playing games,
artist talent, bold style, and adventurous spirit.
On June 24 th , 2023 at 2PM, a Graveside Memorial Service will be held at the Masonic
Cemetery, located at 1216 Elma Monte Rd. in Elma, WA. A potluck will immediately
follow at the McCleary Community Church, located at 330 Main St. in McCleary, WA.
