Mildred "Millie" Brasher Cain, age 86, of Jasper, passed away Monday, March 3, 2025 at Northside Cherokee Hospital in Canton, Georgia. Millie was born in Talking Rock, Georgia, the daughter of Henry and Susie Quinton. She graduated from Pickens High School in Jasper.
After graduation, she moved to Atlanta to work as a telephone operator at Southern Bell Telephone Company. During her time there, she was awarded the title "Miss Southern Bell". After an enjoyable career at Southern Bell, she married and moved to Marietta, where she raised her two children, Chris and Lisa. She was a loving devoted mother, staying involved as Cheerleading Coach, Softball Coach, and Team Mother for various sports teams. When Chris and Lisa went to Wheeler High School, Miss Millie went too...she was a para-professional in special education for 20 plus years.
Millie had such an amazing heart for helping others. She had such a bright smile, sweet southern voice, and big hugs! Millie loved everyone. The students and staff were an extension of her family, as she made sure to keep up with her Wheeler family after retirement. Millie and her husband, Bill, returned upon retirement to her home roots in Jasper. Millie didn't slow down after retirement, getting involved within the community and ministries at Fellowship Presbyterian Church.
Millies' love for her family and friends is an example we all aspire to follow...we will always remember her passion for her two grandsons, cooking/hosting friends and family, UGA football, Tennessee womens basketball, and her impeccable style and beauty.
Millie is survived by her husband, Bill Cain of Jasper; son, Chris Brasher (Tracey) of Woodstock; daughter, Lisa Brasher (Tracy Zimmerman) of Woodstock; grandchildren, Christopher Brasher (Lindsey) of Lexington, Kentucky, Eric Brasher (Taryn) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; great-grandchildren, Brady Brasher of Lexington, Kentucky and Carson Brasher of Lexington, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Susie Quinton; and brother, Roy Quinton.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 10, 2025 at Talking Rock Baptist Church with Reverend Blake Hudson officiating. Interment will follow in the Talking Rock Baptist Church Cemetery at 3914 Hwy 136 West; Talking Rock, GA 30175. Millie will lie-in-state at the church from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, make donations in honor of Millie to Fellowship Presbyterian Church of Jasper at 389 Bent Tree Drive; Jasper, GA 30143.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
