Mildred (Schick) Grassman, 103, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024 at Newburgh Healthcare Center. She was born February 1, 1921 in Evansville to the late Abraham and Anna (Schutte) Schick.
Mildred was a Charter member of Nativity Catholic Church where she was active in the Women's Club and Altar Society. She loved playing card games and was a member of the 60+ Club. Mildred was a loving mother and grandmother.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Mary Carl; son, Joseph (Cynthia) Grassman; grandchildren, Lisa Angel, Lori Wathen, Bill Barnett, Gail Sherwood, Matthew Grassman and James Derrington; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Bays, who was a casualty of World War II in 1945; second husband, Joseph N. Grassman; daughters, Carolyn "Susie" (Bob) Derrington and Sondra (Howard) Davis; and sisters, Marie Blessinger, Juanita Schick and Esther Marx.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2024 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2301 N. Stockwell Rd., Evansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Father Thomas Kessler officiating.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2301 N. Stockwell Rd., Evansville, IN 47715.
