Mildred M. "Millie" Hafeman

Mildred “Millie” Mabel Hafeman (Gillaume), age 96 of Appleton, WI passed away on January 25, 2024.   She was born on June 26, 1927 in Appleton, WI.  Millie worked for over 25 years at H.C. Prange in downtown Appleton before its unfortunate closing.  Millie married Robert Hafeman in April of 1948 and together, they raised 4 wonderful children.  She lived to see 5 generations of her children.

Millie was a very happy person with a big heart and was always smiling.  She was known by her hugs and kisses.  She was lovingly nicknamed “bling” and “sparkles” by those who knew her, because she was shiny inside and out.  Millie was beloved by all.  When she was younger, Millie loved working with textiles, especially sewing and crocheting.  She also enjoyed camping and square dancing.  You could often find Millie catching some of her favorite shows on the TV whenever you visited, which is something she encouraged – she always loved to entertain guests.  More than anything, though, she loved her family and cherished the time she had with them above all else.  

Millie will be deeply missed by her children, RitaRae Helser, Ralph (Barbara) Hafeman, and Renata Shuck; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-great-grandchild; her sister, Ione Kerston; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.  

Millie is preceded in death by her husband Robert; her sons, Randy and Roger; her sister, Marcie (Bob); her stepsister, Pearl; her aunt and uncle, Arly and Vi; and 13 Hafeman in-laws and their spouses.  

A funeral visitation will be held for Millie on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 1:30-4:30 PM at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St, Appleton, WI 54911 with a funeral service to follow at 4:30 PM.  Millie will be laid to rest with her husband at Highland Memorial Park on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 1:00 PM.  

Millie’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful doctors, nurses, and other staff at Moments Hospice and Dimensions Senior Living, especially Bob and Missy Sue, for all their care and compassion shown to Millie in her time of need.
