Mildred Jones, age 73, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021 at her residence. Memorial services will be held at Woodland Baptist Church, Phenix City, on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, 2 p.m. with Reverend Jonathan Pike officiating, according to Vance Brooks Funeral, Phenix City. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 from 1-2 p.m.
Mrs. Jones, daughter of the late Jack Hightower and Mary Griffin Hightower, was born June 26, 1948 in Phenix City, Alabama. She was a homemaker and member of Woodland Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir. Mrs. Jones was very family oriented and looked forward to seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren playing in sporting events. She enjoyed gardening; cooking; crafts; listening to Southern Gospel Music; and watching Alabama football games. The family remembers her as a Godly woman who fulfilled her promise and someone who was selfless, always helping others.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Carl Jones; and two sisters, Mary Louise Davis and Barbara Ann Burkes.
She is survived by one daughter, Dana Woodall and her husband Mark of Phenix City, Alabama; one son, Scott Jones and his wife Heather of Opelika, Alabama; six grandchildren, Hunter Woodall, Kendall Nelson and her husband Brandon, Tyler Jones, Hudson Jones, Blaine Jones, and McKenzie Astin; three great-grandchildren, Aiden Cochran, Gunner Cochran, and Kyler Nelson; brother-in-law, Don Burkes of Phenix City; many other relatives and friends.
