Mildred Perkins was born November 2, 1927, to the late Lincoln Ezekiel and to the late Emma Poole and departed this life on July 27, 2025.
Mildred received her formal education in the North Carolina School System. She graduated from Wilmington High School in North Carolina. Mildred met and married the love of her life and husband of 62 years the late Mr. Joseph Perkins. They resided in Bridgeport until his death. Mildred worked tirelessly until her retirement from the Dinan Memorial Center after 35 years of service. Her passion in life was gardening but her mission in life was to help the elderly and to extend an olive branch to those in need. Mildred was full of life, joy, and happiness. She was outspoken and had a direct approach to life.
Mildred was a member of the Trumbull Church of Christ for 63 years. She served in many capacities at her church.
Four years ago, she came to live with her beloved granddaughter, Deandrea Perkins and her children. Deandrea did an extraordinary job providing love and care for her grandmothers. Yes, there were two of them, her buddy and pal Mrs. Lina Stewart. Mildred became a supportive member of the Church of Prayer and Deliverance and served as a Mother of the church. She also received extraordinary love and care from her amazing caregivers Tamar Brandon and Sylvia Lee.
Mildred was predeceased by her parents, Lincoln Ezekiel and Emma Poole; husband, Joseph Perkins; son, Darryl Perkins; and sister, Joanne Ezekiel. She leaves to cherish her memories her sons, Dean (Linette) Perkins of North Haven, CT and Stacy Perkins of Boston, MA; grandchildren, Dean (Annie) Perkins, Jr. of Shelton, CT, Deandrea Perkins of North Haven, CT, and Jackielyn Hudson of Newark, NJ; great-grands Brandon Perkins, Aminah Perkins, Dailanny Perkins, Diane Hudson, and Willie Lynn Hudson.
