Mildred Ann Quinn, age 82 of Brighton, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2024 after a lifelong battle with Wilson's Disease. Preceding Millie in death were her devoted husband, Leo Quinn, and beloved mother, Dorothy Yurich.
Millie was born on August 19, 1941 in McKeesport, PA and graduated from Duquesne High School in 1959. She went on to attend Penn State University and graduated from Morehead State University with her Master's Degree in Education. Millie was an adored middle school math teacher.
During her middle school teaching era, she served as the BEA President, earned the award of Brighton Area Schools' Teacher of the Year and was proudly one of Michigan's finalists for the 1984 Teacher in Space Program. You could also find her on the weekends refereeing high school basketball games, working at Briarwood Macy's or taking tickets at Gate #8 while teasing Ohio State fans at The Big House.
Millie retired in 2004 from Brighton Area Schools after 32 years of teaching at Scranton Middle School and then began her most exciting adventure as Grandma Millie to eight grandsons who absolutely adore her.
Millie was kind, caring, and a loyal friend who loved to laugh. She dedicated her life to her kids and grandkids and was known as being a super sports mom for her frequent out of state road trips to see her kids' college basketball games and track meets. Millie was a talented tole painter, quilter and put on an epic garage sale on School Street every summer with her best pal, Peggy Storey. She has left behind so many fun memories and her masterpieces that will serve as a reminder of the one-of-a-kind mom and grandma that she was.
Millie is survived by her three children Jackie Gillespie (Ryan), Karen Storey (Scott) and Anthony Quinn (Erin); eight grandsons, Holden Gillespie, Easton Storey, Jack Storey, Anthony Storey, Leo Storey, Luke Quinn, Wyatt Quinn and Sawyer Quinn; her brother, George Yurich (Ellen); her loyal teaching partner and friend, Shane Davis (Christina); and her sweet pup, Izzy.
A heartfelt thank you to the caring staff of both Amber Hospice and Cranberry Park-Milford as well as the amazing doctors and hospital staff at the University of Michigan Wilson's Disease Clinic.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 2201 S. Old US 23, Brighton, MI 48114, on Tuesday, May 7th at 11am. Gathering will begin at 10am until the time of Mass. Burial will follow at Brighton Hills Cemetery.

I just noticed this obituary for Millie and had no idea she had passed! I will always remember her for her many talents and remember her making her daughter a quilt from the many t shirts she saved that were worn by her daughter through the years! My boys were friends with Anthony so I will let them know of Millie“s passing
