Miles David Gilmore, 37, of Plain City, Ohio, passed away Monday, October 20, 2025, at his home. He was born May 2, 1988, at St. Ann's Hospital, Westerville, Ohio, the son of Tana Schilling Gilmore and David Everett Gilmore. His parents survive.
Other survivors include,
his grandmother, Sharlene Schilling,
aunts and uncles, Teresa Gessner, Tyson Schilling, and Thad Schilling,
Stella "Bonnie" Cech, Judy Gibble, Marjean (Victor) Arnett;
many cousins and extended family.
Miles lived with quiet strength, tireless dedication, and a generous heart. As a young man, he brought that same drive to the hockey rink that he later carried into his life's work, cultivating beauty through his love of landscaping the outdoors. He was one of the hardest workers you could ever meet, never seeking credit, always giving his best. Miles was the first to lend a hand, the last to ask for anything in return. His kindness wasn't loud, but it was constant, a steady light that made people feel seen, safe and valued. He will be remembered for his work ethic, his warmth, and the simple lasting beauty he left in both people and places.
Miles owned and operated Gilmore Lawn and Landscaping of Lima and Columbus. He was a 2006 graduate of Bishop Watterson High School, Columbus.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 25, 2025, at St. John Catholic Church, Fryburg, Ohio, with Fr. Sean Wilson officiating. Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends 9-10 a.m., Saturday, October 25, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta. Memorial contributions may may be directed to a scholarship fund established in Miles' name. Condolences may be expressed at www.eleyfuneralhomeandcrematory.com.
