Miroslav Joseph Cerha, 81, of Quarryville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. Born in Mlada Boleslav, Czechoslovakia, he was the son of the late Josef and Anna (Jirkovska) Cerha. He was the loving husband of Barbara J. (Denton) Cerha for over 35 years.
Joe received his Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University. He had spent his career working as a mechanical engineer in the coal fired power plant industry, retiring from AECOM in Princeton, New Jersey. He was a member of Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Hamilton, New Jersey, where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed cycling and skiing and was active in Meals on Wheels in Mercer County, New Jersey.
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his 5 children: Jonathan (Mary) Cerha, Daniel (Rebekah) Cerha, Jeremy Cerha, Elisabeth (Aaron) Wortman, and Matthew Cerha; 5 grandchildren; siblings, Olda Cerha and Daniela Engstrom; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will take place at Faith Church, 611 Robert Fulton Hwy., Quarryville, PA on Monday, August 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends following the service. Traditional interment will be private in the Quarryville Cemetery.
