Misty was born on August 26, 1981, to Peggy Sue Welch (Reed) of Fulton and Jim Scarborough of Oklahoma. Raised in Columbia, Missouri, by her devoted mother and stepfather, Roger Poe, Misty grew into a remarkable woman and a loving mother to her four incredible children: Daniel Palafox of Fulton, Isaac and Andres Guzman of Columbia, and Andrea Trevino (Paul) of Columbia. She delighted in the role of grandmother to her cherished baby boy, Mateo, and eagerly anticipated the arrival of a granddaughter due November 2025.

Misty's loving spirit extended to her family, which includes two sisters from her mother and stepfather, Melissa Rubio of Fulton and April Poe of Linn. She also had two half-sisters from her father's side, Melinda Bear Welch and Alayne Burnicle of Indiana, along with two half-brothers, Eric Spafford and Jamie Bear, also from Indiana. Additionally, she had three stepsisters from her stepmother, Lianne Miller of Oklahoma: Jennifer Beagle, Kelly Cass, and Eileen Kahmar.

A true survivor, Misty faced numerous challenges throughout her life, yet her unwavering kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. She was known in her community for her selfless nature, often willing to give everything she had to help others, including the shirt off her back. Misty was deeply loved by her family and friends, and her vibrant personality shone brightly in their lives.

Misty had a fondness for roses and lilies, and her passions included dolphins, frogs, her deep faith in God, and her beloved dog, Jax. She was also big on her family. Her unique sense of style, complete with funky hats, earned her the affectionate title of "the clown of the town." With her infectious laughter, she brought joy and smiles to those around her, ensuring that if you weren't laughing at her, you were certainly laughing with her.

She was particularly excited about the birth of her first grandson on October 10, 2023, and looked forward to welcoming her granddaughter into the world. Misty's spirit of love, laughter, and compassion will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
