Misty graduated from McAlester High School with the Class of 1980. She dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker, creating a warm and welcoming home filled with love and laughter. Misty was also an active member of Life Church, where she found great joy and fellowship.
Misty's interests were as diverse as her talents. She was an avid crafter, whose hands were rarely still, and she took pleasure in the thrill of a good day at the casino. Her passion for collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia brought a unique sparkle to her home, much like her own personality brought light to the lives of others.
Misty's legacy is carried on by her devoted husband, Gary Miller, and children: Cody Smith and wife Angela, Brandy Cooper and husband Thomas, Kim McCarty, Damon Miller, and Randy Miller and wife Nicole. She was the cherished grandmother to Blaze McCarty, Corbin Hendrick, Payje Hendrick, Robert Smith, Gary Cooper, Hailee Cooper, Krista Cooper, Nick Cooper and wife Kayelee, Tristan Miller, Austin Miller, Emily Miller, Erica Miller, Ean Miller, and Ethan Miller. Her great-grandchildren Kayden and Cayson will also hold her memory in their hearts.
Her honorary sons, Jesse Townsend and wife Vanessa, and Anthony Johnson and wife Charlene, reflect the breadth of Misty's love and the family she chose beyond blood ties. She is also survived by her sister, Cindy Barr, her brother Jimmy Guinn, and a close-knit circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends who will continue to cherish her memory.
Misty was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley (Hackler) Gourley and Gary Guinn; her sister, Michelle Evans; her brother, Michael Guinn; her grandson, Bo McCarty; her great-granddaughter, Kynslee; and her grandparents, Carl and Evelyn (Dobbs) Hackler, and great-grandparents, Noah and Vona Dobbs, and Eula and Vernon Schoggins.
In her life, Misty embodied the essence of a well-known quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson: "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children... to leave the world a bit better... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Misty indeed succeeded, leaving an indelible mark on the world and in the hearts of those she loved.
