Mitchell Gene Marovets, born on July 17, 1984, in West Union, Iowa, passed away peacefully in Des Moines, Iowa, on November 18, 2025. He was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother, known for his warmth, passion, and tireless work ethic.
Mitchell graduated from MFL MarMac High School in 2002 and continued his education at Iowa State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2007. His career as a mechanical engineer saw him contribute his skills to several prestigious companies, including AGCO, Marel, Andersen Corporation, and most recently, Bristola. Mitchell's professional journey began in Spirit Lake, Iowa, where he not only developed his career but also met the love of his life, Amanda Steward. They married on September 6, 2014, in Spirit Lake. Together, they moved to Waukee, where they built a life and dedicated themselves to raising their two children, Madison and Brecken.
Outside of his career, Mitchell was a passionate individual who took great pride in engaging with his family and attending his children's sporting events. He enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests including playing the drums, snowboarding, riding motorcycles, skateboarding, undertaking DIY projects, was a performance car enthusiast, and was an intensely loyal ISU fan.
Mitchell leaves behind his beloved wife, Amanda (Steward) Marovets, and their cherished children, Madison and Brecken Marovets, all of Waukee. He is also survived by his father Keith Marovets and mother, Patricia (Kipp) Marovets, of Luana, Iowa. Mitchell had two brothers, Brian (Alison) Marovets of Williamsburg, Iowa, and Eric (Linda) Marovets of Ankeny, Iowa. He is further survived by his caring father and mother-in-law, Kenny and Donna (Webster) Steward, and brothers-in-law Craig (Karla) Steward, Jason (Kelly) Steward, and Jeremy Steward, along with sisters-in-law Tanya Gaes, Sara (Alyn) Sargent, and Olivia Steward. His life touched many, and he will be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews as well.
Mitchell was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ben and Evelyn Marovets, as well as his maternal grandparents, Don and Marie Kipp. He also mourned the loss of his uncles, Stanley Marovets and Dave Yearous.
A visitation will be held Saturday, November 22nd at St. Boniface Church in Waukee from 11:00am - 12:00 pm, with a short service to follow. The family is asking for casual attire supporting ISU or your favorite sports team. A future celebration of life will be held at his childhood home at a later date. The family kindly requests that, instead of sending flowers, donations be made to the family to help support their children's future education.
