Mona Armstrong Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jones & Casey Funeral Home - Salmon on Oct. 1, 2024.
Mona Lynne Paul Armstrong peacefully passed surrounded by her family on 9-29-2024. Mona was born July 7 1938 in Salmon Idaho to Wilmot Paul and Renabelle Eldredge Paul.
On November 4 1941 mom gained her first brother Jerry Paul, born in Salmon Idaho; After Wilmot came home from WW2, Wilmot and Renabelle were divorced. Wilmot met and married Bernice Riddle, so mom inherited her second and third brothers, Gerald and Gene Meredith. Wilmot and Bernice then had mom's first sister Judy Paul.
Renabella then married Elliott Kenyon and mom inherited brothers and sisters Kelly, Kathy, Keith, Kay, Adam and Aaron Kenyon. Later in life mom learned that she had two more brothers that had been adopted out, Chuck Sierer and John Jenkins. So as you can see this was how mom's thoughts about family started, then when married dad she had the addition of 12 brothers and sisters, so to her there was no such thing as step, half's or in-laws you were brothers and sisters whether you wanted to be or not!!!
Mom went to school in Salmon every year except her fourth grade and freshman years mom graduated from Salmon High School in May 1956.
That is where she met her love of her life, Jack Armstrong. Dad was enlisted in the air force, but when he came home on leave mom and dad were married on September 7,1956 in Grandma Armstrong's house. Then in two weeks they loaded up dads 1947 Chevy with the old-time air conditioner {rolling windows down} and moved to Tucson Arizona. The day they arrived it was 125 degrees.
On May 18 1959 Ken was born at Davis Monthan Air force base Tucson Arizona. Pretty sure I was their favorite at that time.
In September 1959 they loaded up their 1956 Ford and trailer and headed back to Salmon.
On December10, 1960 Michael Lee was born in Steele Memorial Hospital. He was a great addition as it gave Ken someone to play with.
In 1961 mom joined the LDS church; she had been seeking some structure in her life and felt she had found that with the church. She loved teaching primary kids and their beautiful souls. She loved working in all aspects for the church, teaching in Sunday school, young women's and scouts.
Becky Lu was born on Feb 14 1963; her Valentine little princess was born in Steele Memorial hospital. Ken always kept saying he wanted a sister, but Mike kept saying he wanted a horse. Sure glad he didn't get his wish!!
As anyone who knew mom you knew she was a people person. Loving to help in any way she could, trusting that somewhere in everybody there was good in them even when mistakes were made in life, she still found the positives in them. She just loved to interact with people, sometimes to the point of wearing out her cell phone and iPad battery several times a day. Mom was a very avid Salmon Savage sport follower, travelling constantly to watch games till traveling became a hardship. Then it was listening to KSRA broadcasts of games. Yelling at the radio about this or that
The past few years with age and cancer creeping up on her, the doctors were amazed that she was still managing day to day activities through the pain she had to be enduring. Over the past several months with Becky and I taking her to doctor visits there was a recurring theme of her talking to anybody seen on that trip whether she knew them or not, A simple half hour doctor visit would be two hours with her asking how every kid, person or the doctor was doing.
Mom was greeted on the other side by her biggest love Jack, grandsons Jason Armstrong and Steven Blake and numerous brothers, sisters.
Mom is survived by kids Ken and Brenda Armstrong, Mike and Amber Armstrong, Becky and Paul Souza. Brothers and sisters Evelyn Armstrong, Karen Meredith, Paul Moser, Kelly Kenyon, Kathy Holms, Keith Kenyon, Kay Kenyon, Adam Kenyon and Aaron Kenyon. 11 grandkids,17 great grandkids.
Graveside services will be held at The Salmon Cemetery on October 4, 2024 by Jones and Casey Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m.
Luncheon to follow at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
