Mona LaVerne (Ritter) Penn, 72, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on January 15, 2026, after a long battle with C.O.P.D. She was born in Oklahoma City on October 20, 1953, to Arthur G. Ritter and Sylvia L. (Self) Ritter.

Mona completed tenth grade in high school. She married Michael Quick in 1972, and they had two children, Michael E. Quick and Octavia L. Quick. After they divorced, Mona married Jimmy Penn, and they were together until 1992.

Mona was a woman who was truly one of a kind. She had an eye for unique and different. She was an avid collector drawn to things that had character, stories, and a little bit of sparkle—much like her. Whether something was unusual or special, chances are Mona saw its value right away.

She was a proud “boy grandma”, blessed with four grandsons—Trevor, Tyler, Tanner and Jackson. She wore that title with pride and love, and anyone who knew her could see how deeply she adored her boys. Later in life, she was also blessed with four great grandchildren, bringing her even more joy and pride.

Mona was one of the hardest working people you could meet. She spent many years working in retail, especially in thrift stores—places that perfectly matched her love for hidden treasures and second chances. There truly wasn’t anything Mona couldn’t do when she set her mind to it.

She was fiery, strong, and fearless. Mona always said exactly what she was thinking, and you never had to guess where you stood with her. That honestly was part of what made her so special—she was real, genuine, and unapologetically herself.

And yet, beneath that fire was a heart full of love. Mona made sure the people she cared about knew it. Every phone call ended the same way— “Love you with all my heart.” Those words weren’t just a habit; they were a promise, a reflection of how deeply she loved her family and friends.

Mona leaves behind a legacy of strength, hard work, honesty, and love. While we will miss her fiercely, we are better for having known her, and we will carry her spirit with us-in our memories, our laughter, and in the love we share with one another. Love you with all our hearts, Mona.

Mona was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Sylvia; sister, Sue Ellis; brother, Arthur Ritter; daughter-in-law, Shannon Quick and former spouse, Jimmy Penn. She is survived by her daughter, Octavia and her son, Michael; four grandsons and four great grandchildren; sister, Joyce Riley and brother, Randell Ritter.
