Dr. Monica Louise Kemp of Greer, SC passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on October 29, 2025. Born on November 16th, 1958, in Kingston, NY, she was the daughter of the late Forrest Kemp and Lois (Fehlau) Kemp.
Monica had a passion for helping others which led her to a calling to become a Chiropractor. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, SC in 1981 and immediately entered private practice in the Upstate of SC, most recently treating patients at her office in Greer, SC. She dedicated her life to healing and helping others and her compassion touched countless lives during the 44 years that she practiced. Monica went above and beyond to care for her patients, often treating them after hours or on weekends and always with a warm and caring heart.
Monica was a devoted mother to her four sons: Eric Bourg who preceded her in death, and her surviving sons, Alexander Bourg, Dr Andre Bourg and his wife Tatianna, and Ian Bourg. They meant the world to her. She made great sacrifices for them and constantly reminded them that they were loved by God and to always trust and lean on God when faced with challenges in their lives. Monica also leaves behind a sister Sylvia Lamont (husband Jeff) and Walter Kemp (wife Anna).
Monica and her husband William (Bill) Winch were married on August 3, 2019, and they shared a life together that was filled with pure joy, love, lots of laughter, and companionship. They met on March 31, 2018, on a date they had arranged through Match.com. After enjoying a cup of coffee together at Starbucks they decided to take a walk in the park that turned into a 6 hour walk and ended with their first dinner date together that evening at Smoke on the Water in Greenville SC. When the day was over, Monica would call her good friend, and Bill would call his sister, but the message was the same, they both knew that they had found “someone very special”.
Monica was a self-proclaimed “foodie” and loved to explore new and different culinary experiences and cultures. She loved the beach and was most at peace swimming in the ocean.
She enjoyed visiting art galleries and beautiful artwork, and her home and office reflected that with scenes of nature’s beauty and serenity adorning the walls. She enjoyed live theatre, where her laughter was often infectious. She adored plants and flowers and spent much time planting, tendering, and nurturing the garden areas in her back yard, patio, or inside her home and office. Monica also enjoyed reading and her favorite genres were science fiction, fantasy, and especially mysteries. A typical day for her often ended with her becoming absorbed in watching a mystery show on television and trying to “solve the case” before the conclusion of the program.
Monica truly served as a light to everyone she met; a light we all strive to achieve ourselves through Christ. The most important thing she taught us is that there are no goodbyes in Christ. “Save a place for us Monica.”
