Monte Edward Jones

Monte Edward Jones, 65, of Houston, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 10, 2023, in Boerne, Texas. He was born on March 17, 1958, in Pasadena, Texas to Rebecca Margaret Dooly and Edward Jones, who both passed by the time Monte was age 13. Monte was then raised by his Aunt and Uncle who he grew to call his mother and father, Frances Marie Jones and Roy Jones.

After graduating from San Marcos Baptist Academy in 1976, Monte attended Blinn College and Southwest Texas State University where he established lifelong friendships. He began his professional career at Brake Check, working his way up to become an Area Vice President and later joined T. Bob Amthor Company as Area Sales Manager.

Monte's greatest gifts were his charisma, love, and care for everyone in his life. Monte always made everyone feel special and he never met a stranger. Many a time when Monte entered a room, he would announce his arrival with "Oh what a friend we have in Jesus"!

Monte was a proud member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for 31 years. He Served on the Special Childrens committee for 22 years, Parade committee for 19 years, Souvenir committee for 12 years. He became a Director of The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in 2020. He found great joy in working with special needs children and looked forward each year to lending a hand to the Top Hands Horse Show.

Monte was preceded in death by his biological parents; his adopted parents, Frances Marie Jones and Roy Jones; and sister, Freda Marie Peveto, aunt Helen Morrow; uncle Ned Morrow; cousin David Morrow.

He is survived by his longtime partner, Rhonda Smith; nephews, Johnnie August Peveto; David Michael Peveto; Freda Lynne Ahlstrom; cousins, Judy Miller; Jim Dooly; Karol Dooly Frost; and Mike Morrow; and 2nd cousins, William Janes Broussard, Anna Elizabeth Broussard and Emily Morrow.

A celebration of life for Monte Edward Jones will be held at the Bayou City Event Center, 9401 Knight Road, Houston, Texas, on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 pm.
