Morris "Tooter" Carter, 80, of Fredericktown, MO, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Clark's Mountain Nursing Center, Piedmont. He was born March 12, 1943, in Lodi, MO, to parents Hadley Earl and Geneva N. (Wheeling) Carter.
Tooter was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Tooter served his country in the United States Army. When he returned home, he worked many years at General Motors until retirement. He loved the outdoors, fishing, and camping. He enjoyed the water and boating. He loved billiards and was a very good pool player. Tooter enjoyed gardening and kept a beautiful yard that he was quite proud of. He loved baseball and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Lindell Carter and sister, Earlene Carter. Tooter is survived by his daughter: Regina Hampton of Swansea, SC; granddaughter: Jessie Hampton and Seth Hoffman of Swansea, SC; great-granddaughter: Amelia Hoffman; brothers: Bill Carter of Festus, Loyd Carter and wife Bonnie of Bowling Green, KY, Garry Carter and wife Sandy of Jackson, Larry Carter of Lodi; sister: Verna Kay Ward and husband Jerry of St. Louis; many nieces, nephews. Tooter will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation was held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville Chapel. Funeral service followed at 11:00 am, also in the Greenville Chapel. Burial was in Lewis Cemetery, Lodi. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
