Vernon Mose Bacorn, age 90, of Wright City, Oklahoma, died, Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at his home. He was born on Sunday, March 26, 1933, to Nelson and Mary Elizabeth Bacorn in Wright City, Oklahoma.
Mose, a man of deep conviction and unwavering dedication, embraced his love for family, faith, and country throughout his remarkable life. Serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, Mose exemplified a commitment to both God and country.
As a devoted member of the Wright City Baptist Church, he contributed significantly, serving as a deacon emeritus, teaching Sunday school, and actively participating in the construction of the new fellowship hall. Mose's entrepreneurial spirit flourished as he owned and operated the Wright City Food Mart for many years, leaving an indelible mark on his community. After "retiring" he became a friendly fixture in Bailey Lumber Company's "guard shack."
His passions extended beyond his professional and religious life; Mose found joy in being part of Campers on a Mission, embracing the camaraderie of the outdoors through activities like bowling and elk hunting, and raising tomatoes, symbolizing his love for the simple pleasures of life. Mose's legacy resonates through his service, dedication, and the countless lives he touched in his multifaceted journey.
Mose is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Wilma Bacorn; one daughter, Nancy Bacorn; four brothers, Jonas Bacorn, O.J. Bacorn, Gilbert Bacorn and Charlie Bacorn; and one sister, Lidia Mae Campbell.
Mose is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Debra Bacorn of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his daughter and son-in-law, Edna and Randell Turner of Wright City, Oklahoma; one brother, Evert Bacorn of Wright City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Eva Cardwell of Kerman, California and Betty Staggs of Salinas, California; his grandchildren, Steven and Aracely Turner of Carrollton, Texas, Brenda Turner of DeSoto, Texas, Rose and Liam Quealy of Lombard, Illinois, April and Greg Bieniek of Warr Acres, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Jaydin, Alyson, Keira and Chris, Natalia, Christian, Cameron, Aislynn and Sofia; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 15, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at the Wright City First Baptist Church with Brother Hayes Linville officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 6-8 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel. Edna Ruth and I were Classmates beginning in 1st Grade thru 9th grade . I would occasionally walk home with her after school for a Playdate.
We were in the playroom and Mose quietly came in and "Booed" us with those big eyes bugged.
It scared me so bad I cried and wanted to go home.
He felt so bad but made up for it by bringing us an Ice Cream Sandwich.
