Myra Feldman

SHORT HILLS - MYRA FELDMAN passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at St. Barnabas Hospital in Livingston. She was 84 years old.
Born in Schenectady, NY, on October 7, 1939, to Isaac and Lillie Abeles, she resided there until she left to attend college at Syracuse University. After graduating in 1960, Myra moved to New York City as artists tend to do, before ultimately settling down in East Brunswick in 1970 after meeting and marrying the love of her life, Fredric Feldman, where she remained for over 50 years.
Prior to retiring, Myra was a beloved and unique Art Teacher at Memorial Elementary School in the East Brunswick Public Schools for many years. Prior to working at Memorial, Myra taught Hebrew School at Anshe Emeth temple in New Brunswick and would tutor after school.
In her spare time, she loved being an active member at East Brunswick Jewish Center. She was had a passion for Sisterhood, serving as its President at East Brunswick Jewish Center, and was active in Hadassah. She loved doing art projects, playing the guitar and the piano, singing, cooking and reading. She was involved in book clubs, would frequent museums, foreign films and plays. Myra loved spending most of summers at the family's small cottage in Lake Luzerne in the Adirondacks, swimming in the lake as often as possible. Most of all, Myra loved spending time with her 5 grandchildren.
Myra is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Fredric Feldman, who passed before her in November 2021.
Surviving are her son, Michael Feldman and his wife, Anne Buckley, of Short Hills; her daughter, Karin Feldman and her husband, Daniel Lebovits, of Miami; her sister, Julie Searls and her husband, Richard, of Solon, Maine; and her 5 grandchildren (Jake, Ethan, Jordyn, Evan and Ryan).
A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024, at 10:45 am, at East Brunswick Jewish Center, 511 Ryders Ln, East Brunswick, NJ. Interment will follow at Beth Abraham Cemetery, East Brunswick. For directions, please visit our "Services" page.
