Myron Lewallen

Myron Boyde Lewallen was born in Oakland, CA to Jack and Elsie Lewallen on April 18, 1941. He passed away in Olympia, WA on July 28, 2025. Myron served in the Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He worked as a glass doctor for several years, and helped construct the Maui airport. He also owned a dry-cleaning business in Eugene, OR and had his own maintenance company on Maui. Myron had the ability to fix anything. If he couldn't fix it a traditional way, he was always able to improvise. Grandchildren often brought their toys to him for repair because they knew Grandpa could fix them. While living on Maui for 17 years, he joined the Koa Puna Motorcycle Club, where he made many lifelong friendships. He was also a member of the Lions Club.
In 2007, he reunited with Sheila Kirby after an absence of about 35 years, and they married on May 31, 2008. Myron was the ultimate extrovert. He enjoyed all different kinds of people. If he didn't tell you he loved you the first time you met, he was holding back. Always supportive, Myron's most familiar expression was, "Way to Go." Ever aware of his own struggles, mistakes, and character flaws, he always responded to anyone who was acting out of sorts by asking, "What's pushing your buttons?" And then, he would listen. He was actively present for family and friends who needed anything from chaperoning the kindergarten field trips, cheering at the grandkids' sports, or helping one of the kids move. For several years, he consistently visited his mother-n-law at her nursing home, picking up her dirty laundry and returning it clean. For 3-1/2 years, he went to the home of his father-in-law every day and physically cared for him, also making sure he kept in touch with his family and friends.
On October 16, 2012, Myron's life changed forever when he fell from his second story roof, while trying to fix a leak. He sustained life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized for a month. On Christmas Day of 2012, he suffered a stroke and lost the hearing in his right ear. Despite all of this and the many losses involved, he never complained. Several years after his accident, his traumatic brain injury developed into Alzheimer's. He spent the last 2 years of his life at Mother Joseph Care Center where he continued to make friends and charm the staff with his outgoing personality. He very seldom had a cranky day. Myron attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for many years. He especially enjoyed visits from the missionaries during his last few years at home.
Myron was predeceased by his parents, nephews Fred Lack and Kirk Rogers, and a granddaughter Carli Ash. He is survived by his sister, Jaquita Rogers (Robert), wife Sheila Lewallen, daughters, Leia and Jacarra Lewallen, and step-daughters, Summer Hatcher and Madison Kirby. Additionally, he is survived by grandchildren, Laci, Kiele, Kia'i, Damien, Brooklyn, Raiden, Preslie, Keyton, Paisley, and Joey. And great- grandsons, Layne and Jaxx.
