Nancy Ann (Shumaker) Ahrbecker, age 88, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on December 21, 2025. She was born on September 17, 1937, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Nancy was the daughter of Leo “Shuey” Shumaker and Katherine “Kitty” (Weatherton) Shumaker, and the younger sister of William Shumaker, deceased June 5, 2012.
Nancy graduated from Shortridge High School and Depauw University. She taught elementary students for several years and later transitioned to a career in real estate. She married Frederick “Rick” W. Ahrbecker, died October 8, 2007, in 1962. She is survived by her son, Bill Ahrbecker, his wife Lisa Ahrbecker, and three grandchildren, Max, Luke, and Amy Ahrbecker.
Nancy was a beloved mother, grandmother, and wife who worked to strengthen her community. She was a member of Tuesdays with Friends and Newcomers of Carmel.
A Memorial Service for Nancy will held at 4:30 pm, on January 30, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive, Carmel, IN 46032. A Memorial Gathering is to follow, from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm. A private burial will occur at Washington Park East Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Teacher’s Treasurers.
