Nancy G. Bailey, of East Brunswick, NJ, passed away on July 27, 2024, at the age of 82. Nancy was born in Bayonne, NJ to Abraham and Harriet Golush.
Nancy left Bayonne to attend Elmira College, then transferred to New York University. Her first summer job was at Bailey's, a boutique in the Village owned by Larry Bailey, a fashion entrepreneur from Princeton, NJ, who became her husband of 62 years. Together, they built a life centered around their shared love of family, work, and fun. Nancy worked in fashion design and retail and had a diverse and exciting career. While continuing her work in retail, she also completed her graduate studies at NYU and began teaching.
Nancy's career in education began at Middlesex County College (MCC), where she started as an adjunct lecturer in merchandising, interior design, and textile design. Nancy was associated with the school for over 40 years. Her dedication and expertise led her to various roles within the institution, culminating in her position as Professor and Chairperson of the Departments of Accounting, Business, and Legal Studies, from which she retired in 2016. Nancy's impact on her students was profound, with many sharing stories of her inspirational guidance and support.
Nancy's personal qualities endeared her to many. She was a loving mother, sister, cousin, aunt, and grandmother with a soft spot for animals in need. She had a deep love for animals, raising goats, ducks, and chickens at her East Brunswick home. An avid reader, Nancy was known for her extensive collection of mystery novels.
Her volunteer work reflected her dedication to her community and her passions. Nancy was a member of Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple in New Brunswick for over 50 years, where she organized numerous fundraising fashion shows. She was also an advocate for responsible growth and water use. She chaired the Lawrence Brook Watershed Partnership and the Fried Community Clean-up Committee.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Larry Bailey, and their three children: Brad (Cathy) of Princeton Junction, NJ; Jenifer (David) of Westfield, NJ; and Scott (Jory) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Nancy is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Dani, Eli, and JosephWirtshafter; Noah, Rebecca, Ari, Gabrielle, and Asher Bailey. Additionally, she leaves behind her sister, Sheila Turteltaub (Sandy)of Scotch Plains, NJ.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 30 at 1 pm (please arrive at 12:30 pm) at Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple, 222 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ. Interment will follow immediately at Princeton Cemetery. Shiva will be observed on Tuesday at Brad's (Cathy) home at 25 Suffolk Lane, Princeton Junction, NJ (Directly following interment). Then on Wednesday and Thursday (2pm-4pm; 6:00-8:30pm) at Jenifer's (David) home at 33 Normandy Drive, Westfield, NJ.
