Nancy M Cortizas

Nancy N. Cortizas beloved daughter of the late Felipe Martinez of Havana, Cuba and Agueda Martinez- Fuentes of Guantanamo, Cuba passed away at home peacefully and comfortably, on the morning of May 19, 2025. Nancy was born on September 29, 1935, in Guantanamo, Cuba and immigrated to the United States in 1959. She was an energetic, kind and loving mother, grandmother and wife that never met a stranger. She loved a party and enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and hosting her grandchildren. Nancy helped her husband open the first New Orleans Cuban restaurant in 1969; La Caridad and she was the founder and proprietor of Liborio Cuban Restaurant located in the CBD since 1975. Nancy was preceded in death by her son Felipe Gabriel Cortizas and spouse Jose Gabriel Cortizas. She is survived by her youngest son Richard Felipe Cortizas (Erica), as well as her three grandchildren Gabriella, Elena, and Alex Cortizas. Private services and burial were handled by Jacob Schoen Funeral Home, on Friday, May 23, 2025. Nancy was interned at St. Patrick's Cemetery #1 at the family's tomb. The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words, prayers and wishes. Particularly her home caretakers who showed great care and love for her.
