With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John Frederick Meyer Jr. (also known by his loved ones as "JF" and Jeff) of Covington, Louisiana, born in New Orleans, Louisiana, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on Friday, August 8, 2025, at the age of 94. Please leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of John Frederick Meyer Jr. to pay them a funeral tribute.

John served his country in the United States Coast Guard and was honorably discharged. He was a member of the American Legion Post 137, the Cresent City Doubloon Traders, and the Krewe of Iris. He was a Duke from 1964 to 1986, Aide to the Captain from 1987 to 1996, and King in 1997.

He was a parishioner of St. Dominic Church in Lakeview and Most Holy Trinity Church in Covington.

Husband to Ann Harder Meyer for 66 years, son of the late John Frederick Meyer and Irene Natal Meyer; brother to Warren Meyer (deceased), Shirley Giroir (deceased), Patricia Faia (deceased), and Aloise Pfefferle; father to John F. Meyer III (Karen Meyer), Evan J. Meyer (Sandra Meyer), and Thomas J. Meyer (LaTisha Meyer); grandfather to Stefan Meyer, Jason Meyer, Hannah Meyer, Kaitlin Meyer, Crystal Palm, Candice Meyer, and Zachary Meyer; great-grandfather to Kaylee (Brooke) Meyer, Noah Meyer, Cael Allen, Christina Meyer, and Harper Meyer.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 10:30am to 12:00pm at Jacob Schoen Funeral Home (3827 Canal St. New Orleans, La 70119). A funeral Mass will begin at 12:00pm. Interment will immediately follow at Greenwood Cemetery (5190 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124).

In lieu of flowers, please consider praying a rosary and/or requesting a Catholic Mass intention in John's honor and memory.
