Nancy Carol Crooks, 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the night of November 19, 2021. She was born an army brat in Denver, Colorado on February 26, 1938 to William A. and Eileen Marie (Gibney) Stockman. While attending Saint Agnes High School in Springfield she met her future husband, Henry (Hank) Crooks while roller skating at Doling Park. They were united in marriage on June 8, 1957 in Springfield and shared a wonderful life together until Hank's passing in 2004. Nancy made a career of raising her children. She became a member of the Church of Christ in the early 1990s and was a faithful Christian until drawing her last breath. She was an avid reader of novels and also enjoyed making greeting cards and doing scrapbooking, until such a time her hands would no longer allow her to continue. She is preceded in death by her first child Michael, her husband Henry, her siblings William, Marguerite "Peggy" and Marilyn and both her parents. She is survived by her children Lori Highfill and husband Fred, Jeanne Lindeman, Daniel Crooks and Christopher Crooks, her grandchildren Michael Highfill, Michelle Gross, Drew Lindeman and Ross Lindeman, and her great grandchild Caleb Highfill and many friends. The family would like to thank the staff at The Montclair Senior Living, the nurses at Cox Health at Home and Integrity Hospice for the amazing kindness and care shown to our mother during the later stages of her life. Her final wish was to pass peacefully in her sleep and to be able to say, "I did it!" She did it.
The family will receive friends at a visitation at Greenlawn North funeral home on Monday, November 29 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Greenlawn North funeral home on Tuesday, November 30 at 1:00pm, with burial immediately following at Maple Park Cemetery in Springfield.

We are saddened by the loss of our family friend Nancy. She was a joy to be around, her laugh was unmistakable and contagious. Our families were lucky to spend time together in the early years. Hank, Cecil, Nancy, and Wanda would play cards, talk, and laugh all night while the kids were off in other rooms creating forts, games, and mostly staying out of trouble. When we moved out to the country, our families stayed close, and the card games continued. Nancy and Wanda loved to talk and would tie up the phone for hours, ha! As time moved on, our various lives changed and our families didn´t visit each other as often, but there has always been an underlying camaraderie between our clans that we cherish and will for all time. Peace be with you Nancy!
