ALTAMONT - Nancy C. Dupra passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at St. Peter's Hospital.  Nancy was born in Albany, NY, on May 28, 1951 where she enjoyed her young childhood surrounded by a loving family. Her mother, Rose her sister Susan and her grandparents William and Babette Strobel. During her middle school and high school years her family expanded with her step father Charlie and her sisters Rosemary and Christine. She cherished her family and her love for them was deep.

She began her nursing career at FMCC Nursing School and following graduation she worked at Albany Med. Her nursing career led her to Rochester and there she met her husband Gary.

Following her marriage she settled into life on beautiful Keuka Lake. She enjoyed making the home her husband built a beautiful place to visit and enjoy the beauty there. She enjoyed planning holiday meals and took great care in creating the perfect menu.

She worked in public health, visiting patients in their homes all throughout Yates County. She finished out her nursing career at The Homestead and worked until she retired as the Nurse Manger of the Neuro Behavioral Unit in 2010. She was a caring and fierce advocate always compassionate to her patients and their families.

She was a very loving mother to her son Jonathan and was an integral part in him meeting his wife, Kimberly. She was an attentive, doting grandmother to her grandchildren, Garrett, Bode, Tenée and Brecken. If you knew Nancy she would tell you about her family and their latest interests and their life in North Carolina.

Nancy looked forward to vacations in Coastal Maine and seeing the beautiful lighthouses. She also enjoyed trips to the Adirondack Mountains and the Glen Iris Inn at Letchworth State Park. She enjoyed telling the story of traveling to Hawaii and on the plane ride sitting next to Colonel Sanders of KFC and even had a photo of him.

In 2021 following the death of her beloved husband, Gary she returned to Altamont, NY. She reconnected with childhood friends and created new friendships with her dear neighbors, Gene and Ellen and others she met. She enjoyed going out to dinner and phone conversations with her family and friends.

Nancy passed away the day before her 74th birthday after a long fight with cancer and end stage renal failure, she fought with dignity and strength until the very end. 

Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Gary Dupra, mother, Rose Spadaro, step father, Charles Spadaro, her sister, Susan Furlong and her grandparents, William and Babette Strobel.

She is survived by her son, Jonathan (Kim) Dupra, grandsons Garrett, Bode and Brecken Dupra and granddaughter, Tenée Dupra. Her loving sisters, Rosemary (Jim) Vatalaro and Christine (Ken) Durkee. Nephews, Joseph Furlong and Aidan Vatalaro and niece, Anna Vatalaro and many other loving family members.
