Nancy Sue Lust, fondly known as Nancy, passed away on May 14, 2025, at the age of 79, due to post-surgery complications in Middletown, NY. Born on May 27, 1945, in Goshen, NY, Nancy was a beacon of warmth and kindness, touching the lives of all who knew her.
Nancy grew up in a bustling household, surrounded by her loving siblings. She was the cherished sister to Jean Squire (husband Jim), Linda Clark (husband Garfield), Susan Jacks, Bob DeBlock, Jim DeBlock (wife Lori), and Tom DeBlock (wife Melody). The strong bond she shared with her family was a testament to the loving environment in which she was raised.
After graduating from Minisink Valley High School, Nancy dedicated her life to serving her community and nurturing her family. Her career was as varied as it was fulfilling, with roles as an aide at Circleville Elementary School, a waitress at Orrio's Restaurant, a real estate sales associate, and a receptionist/greeter at Arden Hill Hospital. Each position allowed her to extend her warmth and compassion to others, leaving a lasting impression on those she encountered.
Nancy's marriage to her beloved husband, Henry Lust, was a partnership built on mutual respect and adoration.
She is survived by two sons, William Zwart (wife Caitlin Paul), and Michael Zwart (wife Danielle Zwart). She is also survived by grandchildren Kara, Jack, Sean, Landon, and Paige, along with several nieces and nephews. She poured her love into every moment spent with them, creating memories that would be treasured for generations.
She was predeceased by daughter Jacqueline Zwart, brother William DeBlock, brother-in-law David Jacks, and nephews Andrew and Jeremy DeBlock.
Those who knew Nancy will remember her for the joy she found in the simple pleasures of life. She had an innate talent for decorating her home, transforming it into a wonderland for every holiday, much to the delight of her family and neighbors. Her baking was legendary, especially among her children and grandchildren, who looked forward to her treats with eager anticipation. Nancy's green thumb was evident in her beautifully maintained front yard, which was always filled with vibrant flowers. Her collection of Christmas decorations was a source of pride and joy, reflecting her love for the holiday season.
Nancy was the embodiment of love, friendliness, and kindness. Her presence was a comfort to those around her, and her ability to connect with people was truly remarkable. She approached life with a gentle spirit and a generous heart, always ready to lend a listening ear or a helping hand.
As we bid farewell to Nancy, we celebrate the legacy she leaves behind. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025 from 2-6pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home located at 130 Highland Ave, Middletown NY, 10940. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, May 19, 2025 at Circleville Presbyterian Church located at 890 Goshen Turnpike, Circleville, NY 10919. Burial to follow in the family plot in Ridgebury Cemetery, 12 Ridgebury Hill Road, Slate Hill, NY 10973.
