LEOMINSTER ---Nancy V. (Annunziata Piermarini) McCarthy, a cherished matriarch, and lifelong resident of Leominster, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on October 13, 1931, in Leominster, to her loving parents Avellino Piermarini and Clotilde Trenta, Nancy's life was a testament to her loving nature and unwavering spirit.
A proud graduate of Leominster High School, class of 1950, Nancy excelled in sports, participating enthusiastically in basketball and volleyball. Her energy and competitive spirit were matched only by her kindness and thoughtfulness towards everyone she met. After graduation, Nancy embraced her role in the community and workforce with equal passion. She was a talented hairdresser and later contributed her skills to various local businesses, including the CO-OP in Fitchburg, Workers Credit Union, Tucker Housewares' payroll department, and the IL Camino Restaurant.
Nancy's commitment to her faith was evident through her membership at St. Anna Parish. Her spiritual devotion was a guiding force in her life, providing comfort and strength in times of joy and sorrow. She had the heart of a volunteer and dedicated her time and energy to the Beacon of Hope, where she made a meaningful difference in the lives of many.
Her zest for life extended to her interests, which included cherished trips to Maine and Florida. Nancy found joy and solace in the creative arts of knitting and crocheting, crafting beautiful pieces that were reflections of her love and care. She remained active in her golden years, contributing to the vibrancy of the Leominster Golden Agers and the Leominster Senior Center, where she forged countless friendships and shared innumerable happy moments.
Those who knew Nancy will remember her as a loving, thoughtful, and gentle soul. She was a beacon of warmth and affection in her family, always providing support and a listening ear. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Donna (Whitney) Field and her husband David, and Carla (Whitney) Nelson. Her legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren, Jesse Glidden (Rosanna), Timothy Glidden (Megan), Shane Cardona (Tabitha), Daniel Cardona, Anthony Cepeda (Crystal), and Olivia Bernardino (Nick), as well as her cherished great-grandchildren, Nadia Kearchner, Aidan Glidden, Gavin Glidden, Greyson Glidden, Ariana Cardona, Amira Cardona, and Desmond Cardona, and her. beloved sister in law and best friend, Amy Piermarini.

Her journey through life's joys and sorrows also included the cherished memories of her first husband, Carlos Whitney, who passed away in 1998, and her second husband, Joseph "Lou" McCarthy, who predeceased her in 1982.
Nancy's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, family, faith, and community. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her gentle smile, her nurturing embrace, and the quiet strength she embodied will forever be remembered and cherished.
