Patrick Roland LaPointe, known affectionately as Pat to his friends and loved ones, passed away on July 8, 2025 on his 76th birthday surrounded by his wonderful loving family whom he adored. Born in 1949 in the heart of Leominster, Massachusetts, Pat's life came full circle as he departed this world in the same town that he loved and called home for his entire life. His battle with cancer demonstrated his courage and facing life challenges with a smile, and even though he is no longer with us his indomitable spirit remains an inspiration to all who knew him.
Pat's life was one marked by dedication, love and laughter. He shared 53 beautiful years with the love of his life, Susan (Miller) LaPointe. Together they raised a family that was the center of his world, his daughter, Shannon LaPointe of Tyngsboro, his son, Joshua LaPointe and daughter-in-law, Lori of Templeton and his cherished grandson's Tyler and Benjamin Arsenault and Elijah LaPointe, who brought immense joy and pride to his life. Pat's brother Roland Jr. LaPointe was not just a sibling but a wonderful friend and caregiver, especially during his final days. Sisters Sandra Cully, and Michelle Napoli survived him. Pat was predeceased by his parents, Roland J. LaPointe and Cora Y. LaPointe.
Pat's formative years were spent in Leominster, where he was a proud 1967 graduated of Leominster High School. He furthered his education at Salem State College earning an associate's degree in business technology in 1971. His professional life was an impactful as it was an impressive, serving as a DPW director for 22 years until his retirement in 2013.
Pat's commitment to his community was unwavering. He was a member of the Leominster high school football Hall of Fame since 2010 and contributed significantly to the Doyle field renovation committee. A man of many hats, he was also a part of the Leominster Rotary Club, the Leominster historical commission, and was named the Leominster citizen of the year in 2000. His influence extended to numerous other committees and clubs, where his presence was a driving force for good.
Pat's passions were as varied as they were heartfelt. An avid golfer, he spent countless hours perfecting his swing at the woods of Westminster Golf Club. His love for his family and friends was unparalleled, and he savored the moments spent at the Eagles with his Friday night crew.
Pat's kindness and generosity knew no bounds. He was the kind of friend who would give you the shirt off his back without a second thought. To know Pat was to love him, and those who had the privilege of both are indeed very lucky. Described by those who knew him best as loving, kind, and funny Pat's legacy is one of warmth and humor. His laughter and jovial spirit filled every room he entered, and his absence will be deeply felt by all fortunate to cross paths with him.
As we bid farewell to Patrick Roland LaPointe, we celebrate a life while lived and cherish the memories he has left behind. His story does not end with his passing, for his spirit continues to live on in the hearts of his family friends in the community he so ardently served. Rest in peace, Pat; you will profoundly be missed, but never forgotten.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 14 from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. in Richardson Funeral Home.

My heartfelt condolences, Susan and family. I too recently lost my husband of 53 years. Pat was a classmate and wonderful person, very friendly and always smiling. Always looked forward to catching up with him at reunions. He will be missed.

Very sorry to hear of Pat´s passing. I got to know Pat back in the days when he ran Leominster Little League . Fitchburg and Leominster little league presidents got together and started the Challenger Little League for special needs children in the area. Pat was a big part of that effort! In the years after that had many interactions with him on his capacity as DPW commissioner. Great guy, hard worker , dedicated to the citizens of Leominster and surrounding communities. He will be greatly missed Kevin and Brenda Roy

Pat was an inspiration to all of us at the Leominster Historical Commission. He was a dedicated historian who was truly concerned about the heritage of Leominster. His character was that of a true leader and that of a perfect gentleman. Leominster has suffered a loss. To his family, the Leominster Historical Commission extends a sincere sympathy concerning his passing. He is now in heaven and at peace.
