Nancy Lu Fannin McDowell
1948-2024
Please just be happy because I am running into the arms of my Heavenly Father. – Nancy McDowell
Nancy Lu Fannin McDowell, age 76, of Catlettsburg, Kentucky, ran into the arms of her Heavenly Father on October 31, 2024.
Nancy was born on January 26, 1948, in Kenova, WV. She was blessed with wonderful parents and a good ole American childhood, with a fantastic Big Brother, David Cecil. Nancy was the daughter of the late Cecil & Marie Fannin. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and her faith unwavering since that day. She graduated from Boyd County High School in 1966 and married her High School Sweetheart, Fred McDowell, and they enjoyed 57 wonderful years together filled with love and fun times. Together Fred and Nancy were dedicated members of Oakland Ave. Baptist Church where Nancy served as a former Choir Member, Sunday School Teacher, and Pianist. She also served as the Church Secretary for seven years. Nancy was also the Office Manager for Ashland Asphalt Paving Company for 16 years before retiring from Smith, Goolsby, Artis, and Reams as their Bookkeeper. Although Nancy had many accomplishments in her career it was raising her two beautiful daughters that she considered her biggest accomplishment in life. Nancy had a very creative spirit and enjoyed scrapbooking and making cards but her biggest JOY in life was spending time with her grandson Jacob. Nancy leaves behind so many to love and cherish the memories they made together. She will be missed beyond measure.
Nancy leaves behind her devoted husband Fred McDowell, her beloved daughters Leslie McDowell of Lexington, KY and Tina Bryan and her husband Tom of Lexington, Kentucky, one grandson Jacob Bryan and his fiancé' Kayla Shivel and their children Kenadi and Jameson of Catlettsburg, KY, and one brother David Fannin and his wife Lucille of Delray Beach, Florida. Also surviving are many extended family members and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, beginning at 2:00pm at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery NE. Pastor Mike Blankenship will be officiating the service.
In lieu of flowers, can be made to Woodland Oaks Nursing Home Attention Activities Fund at 1820 Oakview Rd, Ashland, KY 41101.
