Nancy J. Pocock, cherished wife, devoted mother, and beloved grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 31, 2025, in Bergen.
Born in Waverly, on Tuesday, December 4, 1945, to the late William Stedge and Betty J. Smith Stedge, Nancy is also predeceased by her sister, Patricia Swift.
In 1971, Nancy married the love of her life, Wayne R. Pocock, in Bergen, where they shared 54 years of loving partnership. Together, they raised three sons: James (Connie) Pocock, Jeffrey Pocock, and Joel (Debora) Pocock. Her family continued to grow, bringing her immense joy with six beautiful grandchildren—Ashley (Anders Kursar) Pocock, Colby (Rebecca) Pocock, Mikaylah (Michael Silveus) Pocock, Jaden (fiancée Trinity Dees) Pocock, Logan Pocock, and Novalee Pocock—and two great-grandchildren, Levi and Baylor. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Frederick Swift, and several nieces and nephews.
Nancy was actively involved with the Grange and the Junior Grange, organizations that aligned with her values and supported her love for community service. A lifelong learner, she enjoyed spending her free time reading, doing needlepoint, and nurturing creativity in those around her.
She also shared her flair for beauty as the former owner of Anita's Flower Shop in Bergen.Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 51 South Lake Street, Bergen. Her funeral service will take place on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Mount Rest Cemetery, Bergen. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Bergen Fire Department, P.O. Box 428, Bergen, New York 14416, or the Grange Foundation, 1616 H Street NW, Suite 300, Washington D.C. 20006, with the specification for the "Junior Grange Foundation."
