Nancy Louise Taylor, born on November 1, 1937, in Hoffman, North Carolina, departed this life on August 23, 2025, in Schertz, Texas. A remarkable individual, she embraced life with a spirit of scholarship, service, and unwavering dedication, leaving behind a legacy that will resonate through the countless lives she touched.
Nancy graduated high school as a Valedictorian from Laurinburg Institute in 1956, furthering her education with a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Colorado in 1977. Her academic accomplishments reflected her commitment to learning and growth, which she demonstrated throughout her life.
Her service to Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated began in 1978, a journey ignited by the inspiration of her beloved mother-in-law. For nearly five decades, Nancy exemplified the ideals of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood. She held various esteemed positions within the Sorority, including leadership roles in the Alpha Kappa Zeta chapter in Austin, TX, and the Alpha Pi Zeta chapter in San Antonio, TX. As Southern Regional Necrology Chair, her poignant words during the necrology hour stirred the souls of her fellow members, reaffirming the sacred bonds they shared.
Nancy was also a proud retiree of the United States Air Force, where she dedicated herself as a Human Resources Specialist, Family Support Services Provider, and Instructor at the Senior Enlisted Academy. She transitioned seamlessly into civilian life, retiring as an Education and Training Administrator in federal civil service. Her military experiences instilled in her a sense of discipline and vision that enriched her community involvement.
Faith played a significant role in Nancy's life. She was a devoted member of Greater Corinth Baptist Church and Resurrection Baptist Church in the San Antonio metroplex, where her commitment to service extended well beyond the walls of her congregations. Her contributions included serving as 2nd Vice President, Stork’s Nest Director, and Chaplain of the Alpha Pi Zeta Chapter. She took pride in reinstating the Stork’s Nest program and hosted the 2002 Southern Regional Executive Board Meeting, pioneering creative fundraisers that had a profound impact on the community while embodying Zeta pride.
Nancy's legacy is one of love in action. She mentored many young Sorors, led community initiatives, and offered quiet prayers that reflected her deep faith and compassion. Her influence will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing her.
In loving memory, we honor Triumphant Soror Nancy Louise Taylor not only for her extraordinary achievements but for the incredible person she was—a beacon of Zeta light, a woman of abiding faith, and a sister whose memory will endure in our hearts. Well done, Soror. Rest in eternal peace.
