Nancy Elizabeth (Stout) Thomas, a devoted wife, mother, Nana and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025, in Skiatook, Oklahoma, at the age of 81. Born on July 14, 1944, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Fred Wallace and Elva Rosanna (McCoy) Hendryx. She grew up in Skiatook, where she received her education and graduated with the Class of 1962.
On January 17, 1964, she married Kenneth Ray Stout, and they built a beautiful life of 48 years together in Skiatook. After Kenneth’s passing, Nancy married Jerry Blaine Thomas on May 16, 2013, continuing to make her home in the place she held dear.
Nancy’s career as a tutor and substitute teacher with Skiatook Public Schools allowed her to impact countless young lives, sharing her knowledge and passion for learning math. Additionally, she worked for Charles Hays Insurance Company, where her warmth and kindness resonated with colleagues and clients alike. Her love for education extended beyond the classroom, as she passionately supported her children and grandchildren in their extracurricular activities, becoming their ever-present cheerleader. You would always find her on the sidelines or in the bleachers, cheering for her grandkids.
Nancy was a woman of many talents and interests. She found joy in farm life, soapmaking and woodturning gifts for others, but it was spending time with her family that she enjoyed the most. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Thomas; her children, Kendy McNaughten and her husband Timothy, Konny Wilkins, Jonathan Stout DVM and his wife Vanessa, Jeremy Stout and his wife Samantha, Jerry’s children: Eric Thomas, and Tami Sanders and her husband Dan; her brothers, Jerry Hendryx, Ralph Hendryx and Rick Hendryx; as well as 18 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Nancy touched the lives of many, including several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends who will deeply miss her warmth and kindness.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Elva Hendryx, her first husband Kenneth Stout, her sister Freda Hendryx, brothers Wally Hendryx and Don Hendryx, daughter Kay Stout, son-in-law Doug Wilkins, and grandson Mathias Stout. What a glorious reunion must have taken place!
The visitation to honor Nancy's life will be held at Sien-Shelton Funeral Home Chapel in Skiatook on October 30, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service celebrating her life and legacy will take place on November 1, 2025, at Immanuel Baptist Church starting at 10:00 AM.
As the music fills the air – with selections such as "He Touched Me," “The Lighthouse,” and “I Believe In a Hill Called Mt. Calvary” – it is a fitting tribute to a woman whose life was a testament of her love to her Savior and her enduring faith.
