Nancy Lou Troupe Thompson, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away on October 5th after a long battle with dementia. Nancy grew up in Inglewood and was a proud graduate of Isacc Litton High School. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Hank Thompson, for over 45 years, at the time of his death.
Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Hank Thompson, her parents, Fred and Allie Ruth Troupe, her sisters, Mary Ruth Howell and Bettye Fleming, and her brother, Billy Troupe.

Nancy was a Mother’s Day Out teacher at her church, Hendersonville First United Methodist Church (HFUMC) and Bluegrass Baptist Church for many years. Though she loved caring for children, her favorite job was working for a group of family practice doctors for many years. She loved interacting and caring for the patients in their time of need. She treated all of her co-workers like family. Additionally, she enjoyed serving and supporting her community, as the First Lady of Hendersonville and Sumner County, during Hank’s terms as Mayor of Hendersonville and Sumner County Executive.
She was a lifelong member of the Methodist church. She was a proud member of the Poe Williams Class at HFUMC for over 50 years. She lived out her faith through service and caring for others. She was extremely unselfish and always put others’ needs before her own. Her kindness and baking skills were legendary.
Most importantly, Nancy was a Christian, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
