Nancy Charlene Waggett, born on May 18, 1954, in Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025, in her hometown, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 71 years old and lived a life defined by kindness, service, and unwavering devotion.

A cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Charlene touched the lives of many with her warmth, compassion, and dedication to her community. She graduated from John T. Hoggard High School in 1972, setting the stage for a lifetime of leadership and care.

Charlene married the love of her life, Davie Waggett, on July 10, 1976. Together they raised two children, Blair Waggett and Brooke Batts, and built a family rooted in love, humor, and faith. Charlene adored her grandchildren, John, Sam, Mac, Lila, Charlotte, and Hilton, each of whom brought her endless joy.

Her professional journey included roles as a Business Administrator at their pharmacies, and within the Physical Therapy Department at UNC Hospital, where she was known for her steady support, kindness, and compassion.

Charlene was known for her gift of hospitality. She had a way of making people feel instantly welcome, seen, and included. Friends and family often said she could take someone who was shy or tucked into the corner of a room and help them feel right at home. Her ability to bring people out of their shell was one of her quiet superpowers.

She was also a true leader at heart. Anything she was part of, she lifted, organized, and guided. She served as PTA President for many years, President of the Henderson Junior Women's Club, President of NC Junior Sorosis here in Wilmington, served on the Carolinas(NC/SC) Board of FCA, and she was honored with the FCA Ring of Honor Award for her impact and influence on the National level.

Charlene was an active member of Port City Community Church, where she was engaged in her small group and volunteered in several other areas of ministry including premarital mentoring, children's ministry on Sunday mornings, coordinating meals for special events and a part of the Prayer Team offering prayer and guidance rooted in faith, grace and loved experience.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Nancy Hewlett Floyd and Franklin Malone Floyd. She is survived by her devoted husband, Davie Waggett; her children, Blair Waggett (Chrissy) and Brooke Batts (Stephen); her grandchildren, John, Sam, Mac, Lila, Charlotte, and Hilton; her brother, Michael Floyd (Pat); and her sister, Susan Grimstead (Michael).

A service to celebrate Charlene's life will be held at Port City Community Church at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 19th. Family and friends are invited to join in remembering a remarkable woman who lived a life full of love, faith, generosity, and hospitality.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wilmington chapter of Sleep In Heavenly Peace in Charlene's memory. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Family and friends are invited to share memories, photos, and condolences on the Tribute Wall.
