Nancy Carol Walker

Nancy Carol Walker, 69, of Kings Mountain, formerly of Roanoke Rapids and Lake Gaston, passed away on August 04, 2025 at Summit Place in Kings Mountain, NC. She had lived with Alzheimer’s Disease for several years. Nancy was born on June 12, 1956 in Montgomery County, NC, the daughter of the late Reverend F. Odell Walker and Sarah Margaret Brown Walker. Nancy graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University in 1979 and began her career as an Environmental Engineer at Champion Paper Company in Roanoke Rapids, NC. After a few years with Champion, she worked with Halifax Paperboard company. Nancy also worked with Simpkins Paper Company and finished her career with Newman and Company as a paper maker and salesperson. Her last two positions allowed her to travel the eastern part of the United States navigating for much of the time with an atlas! Nancy enjoyed her vocation, but she loved her church, First United Methodist Church in Roanoke Rapids, NC. Nancy served her church in many positions, but she found joy in the choir singing with all her friends lifting songs of praise and joy. Nancy loved her family and friends. According to Nancy’s father, she was his “party girl” and Nancy loved to entertain those family and friends with her husband, Jack Reilly, until Alzheimer’s took entertaining away from them. They enjoyed Lake Gaston together for 22 years.

The family would like to express thanks to the staff of The Summit Place of Kings Mountain. For the last sixteen months, they cared for, loved, and enriched her life.

Nieces and Nephews; Ashley R. Kerns, (Clay), Kings Mountain, NC; Tyler W. Ray, (Amanda), Henderson, NC; Alex F. Walker, Burgaw, NC; and Amanda R. Walker, Ocean Isle NC

Five great nieces and nephews and many cousins.

A memorial service will be held celebrating the life of Nancy C. Walker on August 16, 2025, at 2:00 pm Harris Funeral Home, 108 S Piedmont Ave, Kings Mountain, NC. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 1:50 pm on August 16 before the service.
