Nancy Carol (Lenox) Woodrum was born on September 21,1939 in Racine, WI. She
passed from this earth and went to her heavenly home on September 8 th, 2025,
surrounded by her family.
Nancy attended Concordia Teachers College in Windfield, KS. Her first teaching
assignment was in Okarche, OK. It was here that a student at the school, MaryJane,
decided to introduce her to her big brother. Her plan was a success and Nancy
married Junior Lenox on June 24, 1962. They had three daughters: Jyme Lynn, Jenny
Lou and Jo Lea. They were married for 26 years. Junior preceded her in death in
1989.
Nancy's career in teaching spanned over 45 years. Over the course of her career, she
taught everything from kindergarten to junior high. Nancy went on to earn her Master's
degree in Reading at UCO and ended her career as a Title I Reading Specialist at
Jefferson Elementary School in Shawnee, OK. After retiring, Nancy taught adult GED
and ESL education classes.
Nancy was called Grandma by Amy, Eric, David, Dustin, Caleb, Kaitlyn, Ashlee and
Alex. She loved it when the grandkids would pop in to raid her refrigerator on their
lunch break or before work. Her most cherished title was Nana, as she was known by
her great grandkids. Josiah, Zachariah, Allysa, Sebastian, Landry, Aidyn, Mackenzie,
Lyllyan, Drake and Cordell. Her prayer journals are full of the prayers she spoke for
these kids. The hopes, the concerns, the requests for God to protect these kids.
(Especially the ones that drove a little TOO FAST!)
Nancy became an active member of Liberty Baptist Church in Shawnee, OK after
marrying Woody Woodrum in September of 1991. She enjoyed entertaining the Ladies
group in her home and was active in other groups at the church. Her and Woody
enjoyed traveling together. Woody preceded her in death in 2002.
Nancy's hobbies included baking, trying new recipes, spending time with family and
grandkids, working in her yard and traveling.
Nancy spent the last nine years of her life as a resident of Brookdale OKC Southwest
battling Alzheimer's disease and it's effects. She was blessed to be cared for by a very
special care team led by Emily Cook. This team treated her with the love and respect
they would give their own "Lil' Momma". Our family cannot thank them enough.
