Narda Sue Speyrer ("Sue") was born on September 7, 1931 in Brownfield, Texas to J.B. and Ola Mae Warren. She passed on to eternal life on Saturday, August 20, 2022 in Shenandoah, Texas. She would have been 91 on her next birthday.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, her parents and her sister Joyce Quenell Lindauer.
She is survived by son Richard and wife Mary Ellen from Hallettsville, Texas; son Gary and wife Sherri from Covington, Louisiana, daughter Cynthia from Shenandoah, Texas and son Carl and wife Tamra from Conroe, Texas. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren Timothy, Dustin, Jared, Joshua, Emma and Ava and her great grandchildren Paxton, Hudson, Brody, Ellie, Piper and Nora. She is survived by her brother, John Warren of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Sue grew up in West Texas and New Mexico with her parents, brother and sister. Although she was raised during the Great Depression, her mother instilled in her a need for an education which was uncommon at that time.
Sue graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with a degree in Elementary Education in 1952. As a young teacher in training, she was working in Artesia, New Mexico where she met her husband Henry of 65 years. They married on November 13, 1953 and later moved to east Texas for his job and where they started a family.
Her career in education was as a first grade and kindergarten teacher in north and south Louisiana.
After Sue and Henry retired, they became avid travelers visiting fun and exciting destinations in Asia, Africa, Europe, North and South America. As a loving mother, she was always supportive of her children's and grandchildren's activities in sports, scouts and especially education and tried to attend as many games and contests as possible. All four of her children achieved college degrees and successful careers. She has been a loving and proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be forever missed by her family and by everyone who crossed her path.
Sue was an excellent cook and known for her Cajun and seafood specialties. She was particularly conscious of healthy eating. She loved to read, play board games, and enjoyed her many animals and pets over the years.
A visitation and recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 9:15 am, August 29, 2022, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 am at Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Church, 26777 Glen Loch Drive in The Woodlands.
