LEWISTON–It is with great sadness that my son Nathan, of Auburn, lost his battle with mental illness and passed away on August 17, 2024. For 25 years this disease stole any happiness he might have had. He fought hard.
Nathan was born in Lewiston on July 12, 1979. He graduated from Edward Little High School, class of 1998. Nathan was a sweet boy growing up, with a funny sense of humor. When Nate was younger he loved to camp, fish and canoe. He loved to watch wrestling and wrestle with his sister, which she wasn't too fond of. Nathan was a great Chess player he enjoyed playing against friends online and his niece Sage. He loved to go sliding in the winter even though he didn't like the cold much. He loved animals; dogs, cats, rats, guinea pigs, etc. Those were just a few of the animals he had growing up.
In his later years he had two cats he loved, Gizmo and Tommy. Nathan kept in touch with some good friends from high school. In later years they didn't see each other as much, but they always called to check on him. When Nathan was younger we lived in Arizona. He always loved Tucson and his favorite cousin who lives there. He always talked about moving back, but his illness held him back. Thank you everyone for your kind words and generosity.
He is survived by his mother, Ruth Cyr and his step-dad, David Cyr of Lewiston as well as his father Edwin C. Savage. He also leaves behind his sister Elizabeth Savage from Texas, his step-sister Melissa Cyr, (Jim), niece, Sage, nephew, Kai all from Florida. Also, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Special thank you to Cory for being a friend when Nate needed one most.
Nathan you are in my heart and I will miss you and love you forever and eternity.
Mom.
