It was with sad news that we are to announce the sudden passing of Neil L Russo Jr. Affectionally. Known as "Junior". Neil was born on November 8,1929 in White Plains NY and was the son of Neil Sr and Stepmother Elinor Russo (Predeceased). He married his wife Maria on April 30, 1961, in Italy and celebrated 63 years of marriage. Besides his wife Maria, he is survived by his son Alfred and Marianne (Daughter in law) of New Port Richey, Florida, daughter Antoinette and Daniel Dapice (Son in law) of White Plains, NY and grandsons Anthony and Joseph Dapice of White Plains New York.
Neil served in the U.S Army and was stationed in Berlin, Germany from 1952-1954 and was honorable discharged.
He was employed for 35 years by the Archdiocese of New York, Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, New York where he assisted funeral staff and priests. He was very thoughtful to all during their time in need.
He was a longtime parishioner of St John's and Our Lady of Mt Carmel in White Plains, New York where in his younger days volunteered. Neil was a devout Catholic and attended Mass daily.
Neil enjoyed yearly family vacations, walking, beach, gardening and going to Yankee Stadium. He also enjoyed watching western movies and was a big music fan, especially attending the Rolling Stones concert at the Meadowlands. He loved playing checkers and cards with his grandsons.
Neil was a quiet man with a big heart, His faith in God and love for his family spoke volumes. Always doing for others before himself. He had the most beautiful dark blue eyes, which always shined. Our loss here is Heaven's gain. Rest in peace "Junior" beloved husband, father and grandfather until we meet you again.
