Neil and his family were my gateway to Judaism and my family away from home during my time as a student at Ball State University in Indiana. I have so many wonderful memories with them: chatting with Liz on campus, getting beat at chess by Teddy, chuckling with Susan and Neil about how they would use their French when they didn't want the kids to know what they were saying, and of course spending Shabbos together down in Indianapolis. Neil was a kind and humble soul, and I am sorry I did not take the time later in life to let him know how much he and his family helped to shape who I am today. I am sad to hear that Neil has passed away. Much love to his family; I am sorry for your loss.

Neil was my room mate at Temple University. He introduced me to Cheryl Snyder on my first day in the dorm. Cheryl and I were married for 32 wonderful years.
Neil and I shared the same Birthday, January 26, our father´s birthday was the same day, November 16, and his wife´s Birthday is January 9th, the same day as my sister´s, Pat Metz, aka Sister Mary Francis in the Visitation Monastery in Annecy, France.
Ripley´s will have to add another chapter to their book!

I was so sorry to hear of Neil´s death. I know he was a great violinist and teacher, but it was his humanity that I will remember most. He was open and kind, such a positive force every time I was with him, and that serves as an inspiration and reminder of what it is to be a great person. I will miss him.

I am proud to be one of Mr. Weintrob's violin students. He was a brilliant teacher and musician. He knew exactly how to infuse joy and support into his lessons and, even if you hadn't played well, you went away feeling great about being a violinist and one of his students. He sold me the violin that I play now-- I treasure it- even more now, I think. The world feels a little dimmer without him in it.
