Nelius Haugland Obituary

We are heartbroken to announce the peaceful passing of our husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Nelius Haugland.
Nelius was born to Sigurd and Inga Haugland at his Grandma Johnson's home in Northfield, AB, where he grew up with seven siblings. He married Marilyn Sands in 1955 and they began their life, homesteading and farming in Fourth Creek, AB, retiring together in Grande Prairie.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 69.5 years, Marilyn; son Stan(Christine), daughters Sheryl (Garry) Lokseth, Lynn (Norman) Garberg, son Lorne (Marlene), grandchildren Michelle (Cory) Friesen, Mandy (Curtis) Stuart, Robyn (Brad) Wall, Kyle (Felicia) Lotoski, Kayla (Chris) Shaw, Chelsea Lokseth (Emerie), Kyle (Tricia) Lokseth, Krista Lokseth (Marcus), Lindsay (Erik) Tylosky, Britney (Chad) Carlstrom, Katelyn (Phil) Duffy, Coleman Garberg (Kyrra), Chanella Haugland (Matt), Greg (Melissa) Haugland and 28 great-grandchildren.
Nelius was pre-deceased by his parents and all his siblings; infant son, Wayne; daughter-in-law, Charlene Ford; and granddaughter, Desiree.
A memorial service to celebrate Nelius' life will take place on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 10407 100 St., Grande Prairie, AB. Fellowship to follow.
The service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of one's choice.
