Nelly Fernandez Rodriguez, affectionately known as "Baby" to her siblings, passed away at her home in Simpsonville, SC, on June 11, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on November 11, 1938, in Iloilo, Philippines, Nelly was the 6th of twelve siblings born to the late Catalino and Felisa Fernandez.

Nelly's life was a testament to her loving, generous, and selfless nature. She dedicated it to serving and nurturing others. Nelly married Daniel Rodriguez at the age of 43, and together they built a life filled with joy and compassion until his passing.

She is survived by her adoring family, including her only daughter, Nelynda Lee, and son-in-law, Dong Lee. Nelly was a beloved grandmother to Isabella, Asher, and Colette, who will miss her immensely. She also leaves behind her stepchildren, Denise (Daniel), David (Naomi), Ricardo (Felomina), and Rolando (Dalia), and step-grandchildren, Kenji, Koji, Aja, Ricardo Jr., Santino, and Matthew.

Nelly was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel, and her siblings, Catalino Jr., Mildred, Azucena, Delia, Edgar, and Rose. She is remembered with love by her surviving siblings, Ferolyn, Warlyn, Juliet, Heidi, and Evangeline, as well as by her numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members, who will all cherish her memory.

Nelly's true calling was the care and comfort she provided to her family and friends. Her home was always open, her kitchen always busy, and her garden a place of tranquility and orchids. Nelly's interests included cooking, gardening and most of all gambling. Nelly's legacy is one of unconditional love and selflessness. She was the matriarch who brought everyone together and the heart of every family gathering. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her ability to give without expecting anything in return was a lesson in grace and humility.

As we say goodbye to Nelly Fernandez Rodriguez, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and kindness. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her, and her memory will be a guiding light for her family. Nelly's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, care, and generosity, and she will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

In honoring Nelly's life, we reflect on the countless moments of joy and laughter she brought into our lives. Her unwavering support and boundless love have left an indelible mark on our hearts. We take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her Savior and husband, and that her legacy will live on through the lives of those she touched.
