CELEBRATION OF LIFE HONORING ELDER NELSON LEE BREWE
Elder Nelson Lee Brewer was born on September 16, 1949, in Macon, MS. His parents were Able Lee Brewer and Cleotha White. He was raised by his grandparents, Walker and Velma Brewer. He departed this life on Monday, May 5th, at 9:28 p.m., at home with his family.
He leaves his loving wife of 47 years, Brenda Ann, and daughter, Stephanie Elaine Brewer- Moore (MS); son Nelson Lee, Jr. (MS); special daughters Franchesca Nicole English (MI) and Montrelle Brewer (MS); brothers: Alex (Catherine) Brewer (MO); Ricky Brewer (MS), Joel L (Patricia) White (MS); sisters: Velma (Issac) Hill (MS); Dora Hampton (TX); Mary Robinson (MS); Jean (Pastor Walter) Lowery (MS); Murkree (Antonio) Williams (AL); grandchildren: Anndrea (IL), Andre and Alia (MS); Vanessa and Reana (MI); Jaiquez, Nelshon, and Ashania (MS); and Charlie (OH); aunts: Augusta White Glispie, Minnie White, and Willie White (MI); and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Elder Brewer accepted Christ in September 1976 in Battle Creek, MI, and attended Open Door COGIC, Bishop Eugene McCoy, pastor. During his life, he attended several churches in MI, and loved teaching Sunday School, Bible classes, and preaching wherever he served. He pastored in South Heaven for twelve years at Blue Star Restoration Ministry, souls were saved, and families were blessed. He and his wife then started attending New Life Fellowship church, where they have been members working in the ministry for over eight years with pastor, Administrative Assistant Jesse T. Herron. Elder Brewer worked at General Motors for over 20 years until the plant closed. He later worked at James Rivers, Denso, Summit Polymers, and other plants in the area. He graduated from Battle Creek Central, attended KCC, KVCC, and the University of Phoenix. He has a Certificate and License from The Charles Harrison Mason Bible Institute. In 1986, Bishop Roger L. Jones ordained him alongside Pastor Bruce McCoy. They were the first ordained elders under Bishop Jones. Elder Brewer also enjoyed driving senior citizens to their appointments; he was a lunchroom/playground supervisor, did a Bible study for a senior retirement center, and many other outreach activities in the community. He also attended Modeling school in Detroit in the late seventies along with his friend Charles Hale.
Elder Brewer truly enjoyed visiting the sick and praying with them. He went to the library on Saturdays to read and study God's word, which was a special time of refreshing for him. Visiting with family down south and here was always a delightful time for him because he truly loved his family dearly. Elder Brewer loved to take weekend trips with his wife and grandchildren when they were younger. He would always say, "I'm blessed and highly favored by the Lord." He loved living and glorifying God in any way that he could.
